In time he met Jesse Rogg, who signed him to the independent label and released the six-track Black and Gold EP in late 2007. The title track caught on quickly and led to a recording deal with in the United Kingdom. Upon its major-label re-release in March 2008, 'Black and Gold' had already begun rising up the U.K. Singles chart, thanks in part to heavy BBC Radio 1 airplay, and in the weeks following its release, the single continued its ascent toward the uppermost reaches of the chart.

Now I know what you’re thinking. “Simon has given us several anatomical references in Ye Olde Timey Words, so this must surely be a reference to a lady’s pleasure envelope,” but no. In fact it’s a terribly boring word.
You see, back in the Middle Ages, every town had what was called a tron, or a beam, or a King’s beam, mensurage, etcetera. Essentially, it was an approved scale or weighing mechanism that allowed the King or the baron to collect tax revenues. So too was it true that there were walls around larger cities, toll houses built nicely therein. Certain roads had posting along them, particularly near bridges, that would require contributions as well.
All of these were in addition to annual or biannual taxes levied simply to pay for your stead, or your right to have a comburgess (peer of the mayor, or a town councilor, someone enfranchised and free) vouchsafe your wares. Download Microsoft Visio Pirate here. If you traveled from far away, perhaps a place that was not subject to the laws of the King or baron, another country or so forth, you still had to contribute though you were treated a bit differently. Your papers and accolades had to be checked, your wares inspected for quality. Thusly, the taxation on you was a kind of acknowledgement of the authorities of the area - a sign of favor or obedience. So it is, that this pool of revenues was called by many names by the many different peoples who encountered it, one of which was “lovecup”. Example: “I’ve already had my shilling tossed in the lovecup.
I’m on my way to market.” or “Have you visited the lovecup, because if not, it’s best not to spend those pennies on a pint.” I suppose without context, it sounds a bit dirty, no? If you heard it in the lane, you’d likely think he was talking about something else. Especially if you have my background, because there was a long period of time in which ladies of purchasable affection used pennies as a form of contraception, because they were the ideal size to block the cervix. If you want to know when that period of time was, look for an upturn on the census of baby girls who were named “Penny”. I worked in more than one brothel.
You’ll have to pardon my strange knowledge. Title: The Princess and the Grand Warrior Summary: What starts as friendship soon becomes love. Everyone knows that classic story. But what happens when self-esteem affects the relationship, when one feels unworthy of the other. And the other doesn’t understandcan love survive that? Warnings: None?
Part 1 Life is full of little moments, moments that happen that seem so meaningless at the time, but make a big impact on the future. IT is these little moments that make the strongest memories, that make us wander back on them during a dull moment. They come out of nowhere and yet strike your heart and mind passionately. Today, one of those moments was going to happen, to the most unsuspecting people. But whether the moment would lead to happiness or sorrow that still has yet to be determined. So many choices to still be determined, but it all starts with one simple question. “Excuse me, how much for the dragon?” A light voice brought Bofur’s attention from his latest creation, to the face of a beautiful darrowdam.
His breath caught for a moment as he stared up at her from his seat. Her golden mane falling around her shoulders in loose curls, those deep forest green eyes shining, matching that sweet smile on her face.
But the thing is I didn’t feel like I have a need to defend my product so rigorously and still don’t. I could change my plugins to use the “license” system you see a lot out there(steam, for instance) in which the user would just license the software and I’d EULA all my customers and all that stuff but the thing is I support the idea of “ you buy it it’s yours” and rather than give some EULA-atmosphere to my users I think the best thing I can do is change my model up a bit as I am in no way going to militarize against piracy or anything.
The piracy just tells me that something about my “model” is somewhat inadequate and specifically I should probably have a “trial” or “lite” version of it so that users can threshold for themselves if the product is of use to them before paying the full price tag having to pay full price for a chance at having something that might possibly have not suited them. I could go into a whole thing about that really but I just think that the best way for someone in my position to fight against something like “damn i could have been making more income if it werent for _____” is to have a trial/lite distribution model in place which is just a framework refactor on my end. I’ve had dozens(as in some actual multiple of twelve) people buy my plugin and their referral links are from piracy sites that ended up giving me a lot of exposure and helping me make a lot more money and that really keys in on my whole opinion on the matter of piracy without getting into too much detail so no I won’t be militarizing myself against piracy especially if it means that I might catch legitimate customers within that blast radius. The format I would prefer is to have a totally free-ware style feature-set open to the public for free(that still allows the user to get some valuable results from the product) and having the really expansive features being “premium”. Some of the best software I’ve paid for does this(gitkraken, wolframalpha, etc).
That way you can have a product that has proven its usefulness to the user and provides them with a very educated decision to buy or not. I could go on and on about that but once I flatten out a very good “model” and have the time to implement it practically I’ll talk more about it but for now I won’t be rigorously drming my products or doing anything of the sort since I don’t feel I need to militantly “maximize” my profits in such a way. I’m just a 1 man “developer” team. I program and maintain “customer service” on my own and interface with people experiencing bugs individually and patch things up nice and tight to get more stable and efficient code(for both PC and MAC mind you) and I know that having the free and public “trial” or “lite” system will ultimately allow for even more feedback and bug fixes of my plugin running on an even wider variety of people’s computers to achieve an even more stable product so everyone is happy. Ficlet written for Paring: Dean/Castiel Beekeeper!Cas AU Castiel held an odd attraction for Sunday food markets. The open air markets of stands and tents were a flurry of activity and noise, which typically he would avoid during the mid-day rush. But he had been there since early morning, setting up his first table of jars. His hand-painted, wooden signs propped against the tent poles, advertised his newest stock of jams and honeys.
Castiel had kept his head down, for the most part, gently smiling at the foot traffic, his heart doing little flip-flops as strangers approached his display. A few people took his jars in their hands, commented on the label’s mascot, informing him that bees do not have feathered wings as if he was somehow clueless to this fact. He did his best not to roll his eyes, instead sharing with them a good-natured nod and running a mantra-like prayer in his head for them to leave quickly. He didn’t sell much that morning, but the real crowds had started in around lunchtime. Everyone looked for something to eat as they perused through the market.
It seemed like most tables were drawing substantial attention. But Castiel’s remained in quiet order. He busied himself shifting the signs and rearranging jars so that the labels were faced front. It was the kind of mindless work that didn’t take much effort and allowed him to drift off in his thoughts. There would be a music festival at the end of the month. It wasn’t the typical dance music that his friends liked to listen to, so he felt discouraged even before asking them if they’d want to join in.
He wasn’t sure why he would hesitate. He’d followed them to more than a few festivals that were not his normal speed, gotten himself into some mighty awkward situations with strangers and DJs who he’d rather have never encountered.
Surely his friends wouldn’t turn down the invitation. Still, he turned the invitation to them over and over in his head, trying to piece together the right words. He wanted to come across as interested in the rock festival, but not desperate. A frown settled on his lips as he wondered why such a question should take so much effort. “Gotcha!” A pair of hands slapped the table in front of him, giving Castiel quite a start.
He looked up to find a set of sparkling green eyes and a winning smile, just inches from his own face. Castiel lifted an eyebrow in confusion, but didn’t move away. Turquoises were one of the oldest and most prominent gems in all of gem history, living in peace separate from the rest of society. While born as monstrous, deadly beasts, Turquoises learned to control their animal side through meditation and tranquility, becoming even more skilled than their beastly forms, having a talent for spiritual energy, martial arts, and control of the physical projections of gems.
While powerful, however, they sworn never to fight unless it was out of defense. The Diamonds grew to feel threatened of the Turquoises’s powers, fearing they would try to overthrow them, and believed they had to take action. Taking advantage of the Turquoises’s kind natures and hospitality the Diamonds entered their home and proceeded to ambush them and take them all captive. The Diamonds then kept the Turquoises from their meditations and practices, turning them into their beastly forms and using them as berserkers in their armies. Millennia passed and the Turquoises’s vibrant, peaceful pasts were forgotten, instead they were looked on as the monsters that could take down an army under the Diamonds’s control.
Able to rip out of a bubble, shatter a gem with one strike, and the only way to be stopped was to shatter them as well. Eventually, upon reaching earth, one Turquoise was taken in by Black Diamond, the Diamond in charge of secret operations.
Black Diamond was secretly allied to the rebels and began her work in teaching the Turquoise to be calm once more. After many years the rebel Turquoise was able to step onto the battlefield and obliterate the berserker Turquoises that had once caused the rebels so much grief.
But shattering her kin destroyed the rebel Turquoise and when she witnessed Black Diamond shattered by the rest of the Diamond authority after her treachery was discovered, the rebel Turquoise lost her fire and was easily pooled and placed in a necklace, the only way to hold a Turquoise. The Diamonds intended to use the rebel Turquoise and her power, but upon the hurried evacuation of Earth the necklace was lost. The necklace gave no ability or skill to its wearer, but through an extension of her spiritual energy the Turquoise was able to experience everything her wearer experienced. Through this method she learned many human practices that allowed her to become more at peace with herself, her meditation much more skilled, but she was still trapped. Five thousand years later Steven Universe finds the necklace in a traveling market’s wares and frees the Turquoise. Despite a very rocky welcome from many terrified Crystal Gems she manages to convince them she is not berserk.
It is then that she discovers all of the Turquoise monsters had been left on earth near the end of the war and completely shattered. Although they are uncertain how or why, they soon realize that the Turquoise now in their company is the last of her kind, memory fuzzy of her old culture, but still a force to be reckoned with.
