Dsc Pc 1555 Installer Manual
Hello All, First of all.I'll admit I probably did a rather stupid thing quite a while back. That is I turned off all the power to my control unit, disconnected it's backup battery, etc.. My neighbor who installs security system as a full time job told me recently that I shouldn't have done so.
Arm and monitor your home or business security system via the PC1555 zone control panel. Click for more information.
He said especially in the summer that people try and break into homes more often. So I decided to hook everything back up, much to my surprise.my backup battery turned out to be now defective.I let it charge up for several days and then checked the output voltage. It only read 6.15 volts in the standby mode instead of the required 13.0.volts liked it's supposed to. I purchased a new larger amp hour battery from him and charged it up. My new battery reads correctly @ 13.60 volts. That's where things take a nosedive.I had the 'bright' idea to do a factory reset on my system.I feel like I performed this correctly, I removed the ac power & battery power from the control panel, removed the wires from zone 1 and pgm 1 terminals, placed a wire short between zone 1 and pgm 1 terminal, applied ac power to the panel, zone 1 light by itself never came on, the keypad just started beeping.
So then I removed the ac power from the panel, removed the wire short from zone 1 and pgm 1, and reconnected the zone 1 wire back to it's terminal, I didn't have any wires on the pgm 1 terminal. Now.all of the zone light on the keypad are on, along with the amber 'trouble' light. I tried setting the current time and date in the required method, but don't really know if I performed this correctly. I remember hearing some beeps, but all of the zone lights are on along with the trouble light. I mentioned this to my neighbor, and he informed me that by doing a 'factory' reset, now everything has to be reprogrammed.
I have the keypad manual along with the control panel manual. I'm a pretty tech savoy kind of guy.but this is proving to be a 'challenge' for me. Is there a 'easy' method to do this?? I'm surely open to ANY suggestions you might offer me. That's how I learn how to do things. I don't have any wireless devices, only wired ones. Thanks, David.
The trouble light is on because by default, the system is looking for a phone line. That will need to be turned off. Try opening and then closing each point, there is some weird thing with DSC panels that zones aren't immediately recognized until the zones are faulted. If that's not the case, it could be the installers didn't use the EOL resistors, so that will need to be turned off. Go to and download a manual for a PC1555/Power 632. Programming should only take a few minutes, it'll take longer to understand at first. Basically, each 'section' is a binary number with 8 bits that are turned on or off.
So when the manual says 'system option [013]', that's just one section of programming with 8 options that are turned on or off. With your keypad, the zone 1-8 indicators are used, when a zone number light is on, that option is on. The manual will indicate which settings are on by default. So in theory, on the keypad, when you go into programming by doing *8 1555, you'll hear a rapid set of beeps.
If you're programming section 013, you'd type in 013. The settings that are currently 'on' will be lit on the keypad. So, if options 1, 5, and 6 are on, you'd see: 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 To toggle an option on or off, press that number key on the keypad.
When done, press # to save and go back to the programming to enter a new section number. The 001 section is zone types, just punch in each 2-digit attribute, don't make any other presses in between. Pressing # again exits programming. Doing some experimenting won't hurt, if you mess something up, you can always default the panel and start again.
And hey, it's your system, may as well learn how to program it to meet your needs. Well it's probably that because zone 6 was not used, it was disabled in programming by either setting its response type to 00, or by removing it from partition 1. You said you had the manual. They're not intended for the DIYer or end-user, but take time to look it over and see what the different features are. Again, if you happen to mess something up in the program, it's not the end of the world - just default the panel and start again. Defaulting a panel isn't a way to fix problems or correct a trouble light. Battery troubles are self-restoring, but it can take a few hours until the system sees a new battery.
When the trouble is corrected, the trouble light shuts itself off. Defaulting a panel is a way to fix a corrupted program (only an issue when using a downloader program on a laptop), when an installer code is unknown, or when there is any need to start again. If you turned on your computer and there was a CMOS battery error during startup, you wouldn't clear the CMOS or reformat the hard drive. Defaulting a panel is reformatting a hard drive, so to speak.
Good Morning, Right now anyway.I feel kind of 'stupid', I wish I would have read this one little line of print before I did a factory reset: ' EEPROM Memory • Does not lose programming or system status on complete AC and Battery failure. Spore Mods Dark Injection Download Itunes there. ' Had I realized that fact, all I would have needed to do would have been to just install the new backup battery that I bought from my neighbor, and my problem would have been over. At least now once I get it programmed.I'll at least know what I've got!
The company that installed the system did at least leave the manuals for the control panel and keypad, but didn't write ANYTHING AT ALL in either one of them.( I guess they thought that was some kind of job security or something ). I guess in reality.what I should do is select an alarm company and let them install / monitor a newer system. I'm truly SO grateful for this forum, and the kindness and information that it's members provide.
Now all I need to do is keep calm, do my homework on this, and try to 'fix' my problem. My neighbor that does this for a living, said he'd program my system for $ 20.00. I guess with me anyway.it's NOT my parting with a $ 20.00 bill, it's my yearning for the knowledge of learning something new & different. I don't have a college degree, but I'm SO blessed with a vast amount of common sense, and try my BEST to keep my brain active. Sorry for the long post. Dear Static, You had posted this: Quote: I had the 'bright' idea to do a factory reset on my system. 'Just curious...
What were you trying to do/accomplish?' The ONLY answer I can give you is my inexperience with working with alarm systems. Hello Again, Just to keep everyone 'updated', I was out walking my dog early this morning.and my neighbor tat I've mentioned here stopped me and inquired why I hadn't contacted him so he could reprogram my alarm system. Of course I BRAGGED to him about this message board, and all of the VALUABLE information contained on it. I informed him that I was trying to learn something 'new', but so far hadn't had much luck.
He talked me into coming to our house and seeing if he could give me some advice. Having been in the business for 25+ years, he really seems to know what he's talking about. When he attempted to go into the programing mode, he realized very quickly that the original installer had evidently 'enabled' a installer lockout code, which of course my neighbor didn't know. He left for a short time and returned with some sheets that he'd accumulated over the years of various installers lockout codes.
He tried several of them but couldn't find one that worked. He suggested that I give the alarm company that installed the system, and request that a technician give me a call. I called the number and just got a voicemail service. I left a message that I wanted to speak to a technician about an issue with the alarm system.so far, nothing. I'm just going to be honest and basically tell them what I've posted here.
Hopefully.they can provide me with the valid installer 'lockout' code. Hello All, Just a quick update.when they installed our alarm system, thank goodness.they left all of the paperwork, ( installation manual, instruction manual, business card ). So far.the business card has been the BEST item they left!! Yesterday I called the phone # on the card, I got voicemail so I left a message for a technician to please give me a call.
I rec'd a call right before I had to leave for work. As fate would have it.the person that called me is the one that installed the system, I informed him of my problems. I informed him that I had to leave for work, he told me to call him today (07-26-10).which I did.
He asked me for my address, he said he would be GLAD to help me, as it turns out.I actually didn't have such a big of problem as I thought! Laura Berk Development Through The Lifespan Pdf Files. ! He walked me through everything over the phone. Now everything seems to be back to normal, he instructed how to program our desired 4 digit code # that arms/disarms the system.
Yea.I'm a happy camper again.I really DO appreciate ALL of the advice I received in here, and will try and help others with whatever I can!!
